Weekly newsletter: Seven Is the Number of Completion
I’m leaving Studio No. 7. (You guys had to have seen this coming, right?) We’ve been open for four years, but I’ve been working on this for seven years and it’s called Studio No. 7, so it seems like a fitting time to end it. (Clearly there's a lot more to it than that and I'll write about it soon).
There are many things that got me to this point, but really it all comes down it just simply being time. I’ve gotten to a great space over the past year where I’ve been able to trust that the right things will happen...that it all comes together how it’s supposed to. All signs pointed to this being the right time to end this chapter of my life and so, rather easily, I accepted it. I have complete faith that it only gets better from here.
A few people that knew it was coming have asked how it feels and I have to be honest, it feels pretty amazing. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted. It will be nice to lower my stress and I'm excited about building something new. It’s definitely a shift in identity. However, one of the great things about the fire is that it forced me to ask and answer early on “Who am I without it?”
What’s next for me? I’ll still be working on the projects that I picked up this year. The Martell Cognac penthouse is running until at least February 2019. Atlanta Food and Wine has asked me back and I’ll start working on that in the fall. I’ll also launch Holy Sip which will be focused on experiences around drinking. That’s where my writing will live (I’ve wanted to write more than anything) and where I’ll host drinking experiences around the world. One of the experiences will be a tasting concept in Atlanta. I’ve long missed the days when five or six people would come in at the bar and I’d get to make cocktails and connect with people and talk about travel and the world as I saw it. This will allow me to do that again. Everything lately has been pushing me towards curating experiences and that's where I'm the happiest. By closing this door, I'll be able to put all of my time and energy towards that.
Thank you all so much for supporting this chapter of my journey and I hope you’ll stay along for the ride as I build what’s to come. I’ll keep writing this newsletter weekly (Yes, I know I missed last week) and it will allow me to share the beginning process in a way that I never did with Studio No. 7. In addition to the newsletter, you can follow Holy Sip on Instagram and the website will be up next week.
To recap,I won't have a venue anymore, but now, I'll have the world.
