Vol. 8, No. 7 | The List Stands
Hey Ya’ll!
In my last newsletter, I said one day I’d visit Lyla Lila to see how the cacio e pepe compared to Forza’s. I ended up going that night and I can now firmly say that Forza’s cacio e pepe is my favorite. Lyla Lila was a solid experience, but they were doing a cacio e pepe ravioli which is not really the same thing so they can’t be compared.
Anyway, here’s what else I’ve been thinking about besides pasta. Advance warning that this is even more random than usual:
I had a lot of questions about my list after I sent it. Lots of “what about this place or that place.” I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I think Atlanta has lots of great places to eat. I’d put this city up against any in terms of what we offer. (And that’s before we even get into Buford Highway.) The list was nuanced and for some reason or another, I landed where I did.
However, I would have added that my favorite takeout Jamaican place because I get this question a lot. It’s Irie Mon Cafe on Peachtree Rd. This is the most authentic place that I’ve found and I’ve tried most. They also have a food truck but I’ve never tried it. I’d assume that the food is the same, but you never know.
I thought about adding that my favorite burger is at the Optimist but then decided that would just bring me down a rabbit hole of more favorite things and I don’t want to.
I came across Reggae Moscato the other day. I don’t even remember what I was looking for or how I ended up there, but I don’t understand it either way. There’s also Reggae Splashcato.
I was watching Love is Blind last week (I’m making a heavy assumption that most people know of the show) and the guy made these amazing pancakes from scratch and then topped them with a syrup that was pretty much all high fructose corn syrup and I was so confused. This is my public service announcement that maple syrup is a million times better. Don’t cheat yourselves.
Also as I was watching Love is Blind, I contemplated tweeting about all the random fruit that popped up in different scenes. But I decided against it because my first tweet in 3 years can’t be about fruit on a TV show… and I have no plans on tweeting anything else anytime soon. But just know that’s how invested I was in this. Why were there grapes and strawberries in so many scenes?!
Real words out of my mouth on a Wednesday night: I need to find an outfit appropriate for Kimball House and Onyx. (I was very close to linking to Onyx, but decided against it.)
That’s all folks!
Hope you’re all doing well!
