Vol. 6, No. 31 | Be Well
Hey Ya’ll!
I totally missed last week and I didn’t even realize it. Like seriously. That’s how much the days are running together right now. However, I finally feel settled in this new role and I think it’s because I started making time to meditate, journal and get back into kickboxing. There just isn’t anything more important than my overall well being. When I follow that basic principle, everything else falls into place.
Here’s what else has been happening this week (well the past two weeks):
I was on Thandi’s (mixologist extraordinaire) IG Live making a few St~Germain cocktails. You can check it out here.
One of the reasons I took this role is because I knew it would challenge me. I fear nothing more than having to speak in front of an audience. (For evidence, see the video mentioned above.) I think I was totally conditioned to be shy, but it’s something I’m working on shedding and I’m excited about it.
St~Germain reminds me of scotch bonnet pepper. Stay with me here…Clearly not in taste. I love scotch bonnet peppers because they add heat/spice, but with a very distinct taste. They’re not hot just because. They have a very unique flavor profile that just makes everything taste better. St~Germain adds sweetness, but with a very unique taste. It also makes everything better. See! The same. This is what I was thinking about at 1am in the morning.
I was chatting with Chef India last night about the next dinner in Jamaica. I’ll be announcing the date soon. With the way time is moving,
I already know that I’m going to miss the summer. Even though it’s 90 degrees, I can feel that barely visible underlying fall/winter…seasons changing chill…and I’m just not ready for it.
Please be nice to people in the hospitality industry. They’re working very hard with very limited people.
The more I’m out these days, the more I run into people that read this newsletter and that’s been pretty amazing. If you see me in the streets, please say hello.
I hope you’re all well!
Shannon
