Vol. 6, No. 28 | From the Back of An Uber
Hey Ya’ll!
It's been a hectic week and yes, I'm really finishing this up from the back of an Uber on the way to the Apt4B anniversary part. Here's what else I've been up to:
So I had covid a back in April. I wasn't keeping it from y'all, but I didn’t mention it because I knew I’d be writing a piece for Plate Magazine about it and wanted to share my experience with losing my taste and smell at one time. You can read it here. (This should now explain my Line of Duty obsession.)
I saved an article that I wanted to share and after digging through my Feedly I finally found it. But now I don’t remember why I thought this article about a monkey breaking into a liquor store and drinking was so great. Hope you guys can make sense of it.
I went to the preview of a new cocktail bar/speakeasy last night, JoJo's Beloved. The space was well designed, but more importantly than that, I got to chat with some of my favorite cocktail makers, thinkers and writers.
I went to a daiquiri competition on Sunday and got to be in the room with some of the Atlanta bar industry's best.
The point of the last two points is that it's been really good to see people o haven't seen on awhile altogether. In the middle of the pandemic, it's the type of thing that I didn't know when or if I'd ever get to experience it again.
Pop-up alert: Chef Ophus is having another edition of his Ebi Chop House dinner on Tuesday, July 27. Tickets available here.
Hope you're all doing well! It's been awhile since I shared an interview, but I have some really good ones coming up for you.
