Vol. 6, No. 15 | Blueberries
Hey Ya’ll!
I’ve figured out what it is. This entitlement I’ve been seeing. It’s an overall feeling some people have that they are better than those in the service industry. I’d forgotten that this even existed. I remember experiencing it when I was running Studio No. 7. People would treat me one way when I was running around picking up their plate or perched behind the bar and a completely different way when they learned I owned the place. I could literally see their face and thoughts transform. It disgusted me always.
I’d forgotten about this. Had I remembered, I would have thought that the pandemic would have made this better.
How all of this led me to blueberries, I’m not really sure. Maybe it’s because blueberries make everything better. They are small but mighty. (Likkle, but tallawah -as Jamaicans would say.) I was tossing and turning trying to think about what to write about and “blueberries” is what came to me.
Here are just a few of the benefits of blueberries:
They’re high in antioxidants and help reduce inflammation.
They lower LDL cholesterol levels.
They lower blood pressure.
They improve insulin sensitivity.
They improve memory function.
I prefer blueberries and think they are nutritionally superior, but most berries offer similar benefits. Here’s a good study on blueberries and strawberries.
Anyway, find some berries that you like and eat them often. Take care of yourselves, and each other.
