Hey Everyone,
That question in the subject line…I’m amazed at the number of times I heard this during the span of four days. This past weekend the restaurant opened and for several reasons I ended up playing host.
I don’t think I really understood what a restaurant host did and how difficult that job is. There is so much to juggle, especially when a restaurant is busy and everyone wants to get in.
The most unexpected thing though was the level of entitlement that people have. No one likes hearing no. Everyone knows someone. Definitely not mad at the finesse, but the unnecessary rudeness that follows…pass.
Overall though, the opening went well. Still kinks to work through but as I said last week, that’s to be expected. I’m taking it kinda easy this week and catching up on some rest. I’ll be back with a more coherent newsletter next week.
Full disclosure: I’m currently helping the Continent with their opening. I wasn’t at the time when I interviewed Scotley in February and I had no intention of doing so back then. I couldn’t have guessed that I’d be doing this a few months later. Nope, I can’t help you get a table. (Well, maybe.)

Hosting is my fav and least fav thing lol! One wrong move and things can turn sour real quick! Can’t wait to visit the new restaurant and thank you for sharing a piece of your world with us!
Get yourself plenty of rest! And yes, rudeness is my number one turn off. If you have to remind me of who you are, then you're not getting a table. LOL #sorrynotsorry I guess I couldn't be a Hostess. LOL I can't wait to visit!
