Vo. 6, No. 24 | Really, Stop With the Cicadas
Hey Ya’ll!
I’ve had a really hectic week and I have a feeling this is what the rest of the year will be like for me. No complaints though. After covid year, I'm really excited to be back out in the world.
I'm currently in Miami, so these thoughts might feel even more disjointed than usual. Here's what I've been thinking about:
This cicada as meals thing is getting out of control. I was at a gathering on Saturday night with friends from DC and Ohio and everyone was talking about it. Let's not make this a trend.
Scotley Innis is making his own coco bread at Continent…and it's fire. In theory I knew that coco bread was something that could be made, but until I had it, I didn't realize how amazing it would be. He's using it for ackee and saltfish sandwiches on the brunch menu.
I drove past cruise ships in Miami. I can't imagine. I never liked the idea of cruises to begin with, but post covid…it's a hard pass for me.
Lambrusco is one of my favorite summer wines. It's so underrated. I went to Grana a few weeks ago after a really long week and I was so excited when I saw it. I can't wait to make it into a St. Germain spritz.
Speaking of wine, my friend Seung is having some really cool events this weekend. If you like Korean food, definitely check one of them out.
I haven't picked up the Art of Eating since I left Sanibel Island. And this makes me a bit sad.
I had one of my best meals of the year at Red Rooster Miami. Oh my. I went to the one in Harlem years ago and I didn't find it memorable. This meal last night though was exceptional from beginning to end.
I had a great meal my first night in Miami, but I also got food poisoning from the restaurant. This was not a great way to start this trip. I've never had food poisoning from a restaurant before. I'm sure it sucks anytime, but after eating a really great meal it felt exceptionally offensive. I'm finally well and looking forward to more great meals in Miami.
Hope you're all well!
